John Kensinger on the Crime Bill

My Views

We need to protect our communities from the threat of violent crimes while preserving the law-abiding citizens right to bear arms. We can achieve this balance by implementing a nationwide “Project Exile” style crime bill.

In 1997 the city of Richmond Virginia had one of the highest per capita homicide rates in the United States. The city of Richmond implemented “Project Exile” which mandated a five-year prison sentence to anyone illegally possessing a firearm in the commission of a crime. By 1999, homicides were down 46% and gun crimes were reduced by 65% while the gun-carrying rate by criminals was decreased by 50%. The message is clear. The end result of such legislation would be reduced gun crime and fewer armed encounters by law enforcement while preserving our Second Amendment Freedom.

The Kensinger for Senate Committee is committed to providing our citizens with the economic tools and freedoms necessary to build America’s future. The American people are this nation’s greatest resource. It is the people, not the government, that hold the key to achieving greatness. If you believe in these principles, then we can use your help. Our committee will need volunteers for signature gathering and fund raising so we can bring our message to the American people.
