John Kensinger on Health Care

One of our most basic and fundamental freedoms is the right and ability to choose our own doctor, and medical treatment. The government has passed a health care plan that will be funded by new payroll taxes, a 500 billion dollar cut to Medicare benefits, and taxes on families with private health insurance. The government will determine all treatment options for those covered under the Public Option, House Bill 3962. Your level of treatment will be dictated by the dollars available in the federal budget, and not by the judgment of your doctor. Other countries with a Public Option have withheld or postponed medical treatment to its citizens when budgeted health care dollars were used before the end of the fiscal year.
House Bill 3962, Section 101 (h) (2) titled Insufficient Funds, states, “The secretary shall make such adjustments as are necessary to eliminate such deficit, including reducing benefits, increasing premiums, or establishing waiting lists.” Make no mistake, reducing benefits and establishing waiting lists is rationing of health care.
A better approach is to allow interstate competition between insurance companies. Competition will lead to decreased insurance premiums it has decreased the cost of Internet and cell phone plans.
Businesses need funds to maintain our current jobs, and for new job creation. Additional payroll taxes for health care will increase expenses on businesses and take away funds for job retention and creation. American citizens should have the freedom to make their own health care decisions while preserving their employment and financial opportunity. This is why I oppose the Public Option.
The Kensinger for Senate Committee is committed to providing our citizens with the economic tools and freedoms necessary to build America’s future. The American people are this nation’s greatest resource. It is the people, not the government, that hold the key to achieving greatness. If you believe in these principles, then we can use your help. Our committee will need volunteers for signature gathering and fund raising so we can bring our message to the American people.
